Madridejos, Cebu — The National Service Training Program (NSTP) students of Madridejos Community College (MCC) successfully carried out a tree-planting activity on [insert exact date] in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Madridejos. The initiative forms part of the municipality’s continuing efforts to promote environmental conservation, strengthen climate resilience, and involve youth in community-based sustainability programs.

The activity was conducted at Maalat-Tarong shoreline, a site identified by the LGU as a priority area for reforestation and ecological rehabilitation. More than 1000 NSTP students participated, accompanied by faculty members, barangay officials, and community volunteers.

According to MCC NSTP coordinators, the activity aims to develop environmental awareness among students and encourage them to take an active role in protecting natural resources. “This initiative allows our students to directly contribute to the greening efforts of the municipality and understand the importance of environmental stewardship,” the coordinator said.

Various native and locally adaptive tree species—including narra, talisay, and mahogany—were planted to ensure ecological suitability and long-term survival. The chosen species are known to support biodiversity, reduce soil erosion, and help improve air quality.

LGU Madridejos, through its environment-related offices, provided technical guidance on proper planting techniques and site preparation. Barangay officials also assisted in ensuring the smooth conduct of the activity and in establishing community mechanisms for tree monitoring and maintenance.

Mayor [insert name] commended the MCC NSTP students for their participation and emphasized the importance of youth involvement in protecting the municipality’s natural environment. “We recognize the vital role of our young people in advancing sustainable development. Activities like this strengthen our shared commitment to building a greener, healthier, and more resilient Madridejos,” the Mayor stated.

The tree-planting initiative is expected to contribute to the LGU’s long-term environmental goals, including increased green cover, improved ecological balance, and enhanced disaster mitigation capacity. MCC and the LGU plan to continue collaborating on similar programs to further promote environmental education and civic engagement.
